The original and first mobile phones where installed permanently in vehicles (Car Phones), then a little later the so called bag phone started which had a cigarette lighter plug which let you carry them as welloh how things have changed.
If you would like to know what was the first real mobile phone (by that we mean a phone that was connected to telephone network), then the year would be 1946 and the country was Sweden, it was used by the Swedish police.
Ericsson created the first fully automatic mobile phone system (not hand held) which was called Mobile Telephone system A (MTA); this was released in 1956 commercially by Ericsson (in Sweden).
As you can imagine the technology was know where what it today and as such the mobile phones had a weight of around 40kg and would not fit in your pocket (I guess you had to work out at the gym to carry that mobile with you).
The weight of this mobile phone got a lot better in 1965 when it went down from 40kg to 9kg. (Now thats a little better).
First Commercially Available Hand Held Mobile Phone (1G)

The first analogue mobile phone call was made in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper (a Motorola employee), this then led to the very successful and first commercially available hand held phone (the DynaTAC 8000X in 1983), I remember my brother had one of these when I was a kid and it was like a brick but I was amazed when he showed it off to us allwe have come along way since then.
